This time has come to an end

So finally the day that every student awaits has arrived. The final days of class. I am pleased to announce that I have learned to create a blog, enhance it, improve it and to communicate to those who will be reading it. I was able to customize me blog to my personal settings, added pictures information and links to assist the reader even more. My main focus of this blog was to communicate with my class and give my classmates as well as teacher a little information about myself as well as my family and what I have going on. I am pleased to announce my successful completion of this class and will continue to utilize this blog to update my family when we deploy to the UK in a few months. I thank each and everyone of you for your comments, words of encouragement, and positive criticism to improve my blog as well as communication amongst each and everyone of you. Until we meet again.

Peace out!

OMG! The blackout in SD

How could I forget to mention that!!! It happened when I was at work last week. From what the news told us, it affected over 4 million people ranging as far South as parts of Mexico to up North to Orange County. The blackout supposedly will cost over 100 millions dollars which includes the 70 million dollars in lost revenue that businesses that were affected had incurred. http://www.kpbs.org/news/2011/sep/12/blackout-not-productive-san-diego-economy/ory  Check this link out to find out more information about the power outage last week.
My family was not affected that much, however I am blessed that no one I know was harmed and it played out very smoothly. It actually gave us a chance to leave the doors open and windows open without depending on the air. That evening it was in the low seventies and had a light breeze where we stayed. I was able to cook dinner, because we have an electric stove, so I was able to light the pilot on the stove and still enjoy a home cooked meal. The kids where sitting on the couch having a peaceful conversation with us until they fell asleep around almost nine o'clock. Personally I feel it wasn't that bad, besides a little traffic on the way home.

Whinding Down

I am finally in my last week of this last and finishing up my final week of my other Comm class. This has been the longest five weeks of my life. (Or atleast it feels like it) I am debating if I am going to take a week off or just going to knock it out since I only have a few more classes left. I went to the doctor yesterday and we listened to the newest members heartbeat and he or she is up and at them. I have been feeling very tired and at times overloaded over the past few months.  I am in the process of getting JJ's party invitations sent out today. I should have done this a few weeks ago, but as you know it has been hectic. Today is my off day and I was able to complete a few assignments as well as catch up on some other work in regards to school. I thought I would have the whole day to myself, but turns out today is the kids short day at school. I learned that when at around noon they came in the house full of energy and laughter while enlightening me of their events at school today. I am still working on homework, while contemplating what I am cooking for dinner and waiting for the load of laundry I put on to finish washing. Well I can honestly say that the house isn't in an uproar as it was last week and I do not have as much housework to do today. Everyone has been assisting me in cleaning up and maintaining their rooms and play area. Well I have more homework to finish up. So everyone have a great day and ttyl. (I would post a pix of myself, but I might lose some of your reading this, lol)

Cellphones

Cellular Phones- is devices that enable a person to hold a conversation without a person being connected to a landline traditional telephone line. A cellular phone these days enable people to search the Internet, open emails and access social media from the click of a button. Cell phones were first introduced in the early eighties and have decreased in size and capabilities ever since. The original first cell phone was over eight pounds in weight and had a shoulder strap. The first company to try this was Motorola. Over time cell phones have given us the ability to work not only in our home country but foreign countries as well, it gives us the ability to make calls internationally from our handset, at additional charges of course. Cell phones give us the ability to utilize and example of virtual communication, web chatting and text messaging. Some cell phones let us web chat with subscription services such as Skype. We are able to see other people who have the same service to digital subscription services no matter where they are in the world.

RSS

RSS- An RSS feed is a retrieval program that monitors selected sites. It includes a programming code that enables its user to log into to view current and updated information with the click of a button. I was first introduced to RSS when I worked at Best Buy when I was younger. This system enabled employees to get updates from our corporate office and other upper division management to communicate with all employees. I believed that this was an excellent communication tool to educate customers as well as us (the employees). It is usually company secure, so to access the system you must provide a password and have valid log on information.

Blogs

Blogs (Internal and External)- Blogs are especially useful with sharing information rapidly and for easy access. There are blogs that are used internally within organization to keep employees up to date with information in regards to new company policies and procedures. An external blog can enlighten a person to new information in regards to a certain subject; it can receive feedback from people reading the blog and can give people a different side of a company. Personally I feel that a blog is a more personal opinion of a subject from a particular person or group of people. Blogs can be positive or contribute to the negative side of society. Because blogs are not monitored as much as a social networking page, people can utilize their first amendment right a lot more. I originally hear of a blog a few years back, an associate of mine introduced me to blogs. We were bored at work and she suggested a few gossip “websites”. This was my first introduction to blogging. I noticed how people where able to read the stories, look at the pictures and make comments. It was a very good interactive experience. People can create screen names and accounts that can identify who they are, once they post comments.

Social Networking

Social networking- social networks act as a median between people; they are intended to connect people that have common interest. Such examples are Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter. These social networks provide people a chance to interact, communicate and explore each other’s worlds without being in the same physical space. You can post pictures, update people about things that are going on in your life and advertise products to reach customers. Social networks have been a positive contribution to society as well as a negative one. People are able to share information, pictures and videos to other subscribers. This has been effective in reconnecting people that attended elementary school, middle school, high school, college and former colleagues. People are able to join groups that they have a common interest with and share similar feelings in regards to a certain subject. The downfall to social networking is a lot of information can be exposed if it gets in the wrong hands. Another downfall is in this virtual world people can be “whomever” they want to be.
